Locked out of the officeSince I'm only a part-timer in the IT department for my local school system, I don't have a key to the office. Since I come in to work around 10:30, sometimes the guys have already left for a site. Thanks to the wonders of wireless networking, I'm sitting on a bench in the hallway outside of my office, plugging away on my notebook (A Dell inspiron 6400 with Vista). Anyways... All eyes are on Apple right now as they get ready to launch one of their annual conferences, WWDC '07 Apparently, some people are freaking out over the 12th button on the iPhone. More information in the link. (via ZDNet). Personally? I don't care. In other news...I saw the most interesting thing in a Wal-Mart newspaper ad yesterday (Sunday). Remember how a few weeks ago Dell announced that they would marketing their products to large retailers, starting with Wal-Mart? Well, I saw Dell's Dimension C521 model on the front page of Walmarts newspaper ad. Interesting? Slightly. If you may recall, Dell's business model has always been one comprised of direct sells via the web, phone, and a few of their Dell Direct kiosks. Now, they are beginning to market out, having to compete with the new king of computers, Hewlett Packard, who finally passed Dell in computer sells last year with its aggressive retail marketing tactics. Posted by Kyle Macs are now ready for Vista- Uh oh!
In case you mac addicts haven't the latest news, Mac released it's new boot camp drivers that are compatible with Vista. This is both a good and bad thing. Now, Vista gets decent hardware. Bad? Good hardware gets still buggy Vista. Oh well. It'll make many Mac+PC users happy. I need a Mac... New stuffMicrosoft gives more details on the Vista sales claim- Sorry, Wrong Face. Access Denied Microsoft appeals to racism. "Elite" Black 360 revealed And Yes. I haven't posted in awhile. Who the hell cares? Samsung ready with hybrid hard drive | News.blog | CNET News.comYeah So...Samsung's got hybrid hard drives out! These things are pretty sweet. They are part flash, part disk. Samsung hopes to do two thing with this technology. 1) Make the computer faster overall. Why? Because flash storage reads/writes faster than traditonal disk storage. This means faster booting, transfer of data, and less risk of lost storage due to disk failure. My 2GB iPod nano runs off flash memory. It's pretty sweet. 2) Save the battery life of notebook computers. By taking away the spinning of the hard disk when the computer idles, it will conserve a tremendous amount of battery power. This is incredibly useful right now. Why? Vista. They son-of-a-bitch takes a TON of power and cut the battery life of my Dell Inspiron E1505/6400 in half. Ouch. We should be seeing all-flash hard drives by the end of the year, according to this article. Link to Samsung ready with hybrid hard drive | News.blog | CNET News.com The New TechBlogger!Welcome!
Anyways, That's the start of it. I don't have any place to put anything about me so...oh well. |
